TOWN WIN ANOTHER CUP
LEEDS UNITED BEATEN BY HUDDERSFIELD
WEST RIDING CUP - FINAL
Huddersfield Town met Leeds United in the final for the West Riding Senior Cup at Valley Parade, this afternoon, before about 7,000 spectators. Town fielded their Cup team, with the exception of Richardson, whose place was taken by Byers. The teams were:
Huddersfield Town: Mutch; Wood and Wadsworth; Slade, Wilson and Watson; Byers, Mann, Islip, Stephenson and Smith.
Leeds United: Whalley; Baker and Frew; Sherwin, Hart and Walton; Coates, Poyntz, Armitage, Swan and Clarke.
Leeds were the first to attack but Wood had no difficulty in driving them back. Then Islip ran through and was only tackled by Walton and Frew when in a dangerous position. The ball was bouncing freely on the hard ground, and control was difficult. After an abortive corner forced by Smith, play went to the other end, and Hart tested Mutch with a dropping shot. Walton put in a good drive after a corner kick, and an awkward bounce of the ball almost beat the Town keeper. At this point Leeds were well on top and Swan sent in a hard shot which skimmed the crossbar. The Huddersfield forwards were little in evidence, Smith being especially well marked. The Leeds defence was excellent, and Whalley was only called upon twice in the first twenty minutes when Stephenson and Byers put in quick successive drives. Once Smith got away, but Walton crossed over and robbed him in the penalty area. The Leeds forwards were more spirited than their opponents and Clark and Swan combined particularly well.
Half-time score:- Huddersfield Town 0 Leeds United 0
Leeds missed a great chance on resuming, Swan shooting feebly when only a yard or so from goal. Baker failed to clear a pass from Smith and Islip made no mistake, with only Whalley to beat. Later, Leeds missed another chance when Mutch ran out of goal but failed to get to the ball before Poyntz. Wadsworth cleared. The official figures for the gate were 8,500 with takings of £500.
RESULT:- HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1 LEEDS UNITED 0

WEST RIDING SENIOR CUP FINAL
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN BEAT LEEDS UNITED
Huddersfield Town won the West Riding Senior Cup by defeating Leeds United at Valley Parade before a crowd of 8,500, the receipts being £500. In spite of the awkward bouncing of the ball on the hard ground, and warm sunshine, play was fast and open. Leeds were on top throughout the first half, their forwards, especially Clark and Swan, who combined well, being more persistent than the opposing front line. At the beginning the Huddersfield half backs were somewhat weak, and it was only good work by Wood and Wadsworth, which prevented Leeds from scoring. Huddersfield attacked in turn and Whalley had to save from Stephenson and Byers. Smith was well marked by Sherwin and Baker, and although he forced several corners, he was never really dangerous in the first half, which ended with no score.
Leeds missed an easy chance on resuming. Poyntz, breaking through, was tackled in the Huddersfield goalmouth, and the ball went to Swan, but he shot weakly into the hands of Mutch. Eight minutes later the only goal was scored. Baker failed to clear a pass from Smith and the ball went to Islip, who made no mistake. Immediately afterwards Leeds missed another easy chance. Mutch ran out to clear, but Poyntz beat him and centred, but Armitage was not near and Wadsworth cleared. After this, the Leeds attack, though persistent, was not so polished as before, wheras the Huddersfield men improved, and in the closing stages Smith, Stephenson and Byers were always dangerous. Final score:- Huddersfield Town 1 goal, Leeds United none.
